![]() ![]() ![]() The center has three passenger ship berths that transport over 1 million passengers annually. The Port of Los Angeles' World Cruise Center is the largest ship terminal on the West Coast of the USA. With so many parks, museums, historical landmarks, art galleries, shops and restaurants, the Port of Los Angeles is a wonderful place for the whole family to visit. Waterfront has a number of great attractions including the Los Angeles Maritime Museum, Ports O' Call Village, the museum Battleship IOWA from WWII, whale watching tours, the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, as well as the beautiful Cabrillo Beach for swimming, boating and fishing. After the war, the port shifted to container shipment. ![]() During World War II, the port was used for ship building and employed more than 90, 000 people. ![]() In the 1930's, a massive expansion of the port was completed. It soon became the world's busiest seaport. People have been using the bay since 1542, but wasn't until 1912 that the first major wharf was completed. The Port of Los Angeles is located in the San Pedro Bay, in the San Pedro neighborhood of Los Angeles, approximately 20 miles south of downtown.
